Our 24/7/365 Emergency Monitoring Center, located in New York State, is amongst the most advanced in the world. It has been working with medical alarms for over 18 years, and is listed by Underwriter Laboratories and certified by Factory Mutual.
Our Telecom Reliability
A reliable telecom infrastructure is critical to guarantee continuous communications capability. You want to be sure that when you press the emergency button we’ll have the capacity to answer your call.
- So first, our carriers: We use line trunks from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, PaeTec plus two local providers. With that we have extra capacity from a variety of sources in case one, two or more fail. Our multiple T-3 circuits from each telecom provider enter the monitoring facility through a fiber optic Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) architecture: One provider’s two T-3s enter from one access, while another enters the center’s network from a separate point with its own independent T-3s. It is mission-critical reliability with triple back-up.
- Second, our phone switch has dual processors and redundant fiber optic links between carriers for greater dependability, and is designed to stay on the job even if other components should fail.
- And third, power: Even the best telecom infrastructure is at risk if there is a power outage. That is why our dual Caterpillar generators are locked down in an environmentally-secured enclosure that protects in every way the custom-designed, digitally-controlled, fully-monitored 600 kw diesel generators. The generators have independent 1200 gallon fuel tanks and seamless switching so there is never an interruption of power. We also added another layer of reliability with dual Liebert 150 KVA UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies) which are capable of independently support the full critical load of the monitoring facility. In plain English this means that in case there’s a power outage in the region we’ll still be able to go on independently for 2 full weeks!
Our People Capability
Our courteous operators are certified Emergency Medical Technicians and are trained to go out of their way to help you, our customer, with your needs. They will quickly assess the situation and contact people in your customized call list (son, daughter, friend, neighbor) and/or send an ambulance.
They will stay with you on the line until help arrives and will be able to provide live updates to the emergency personnel being dispatched.
We also have many bilingual (English and Spanish) operators to communicate better with our growing customer base.
As a backup, we have trained our administrative personnel to jump in and help field the calls in case of an unexpected peak in call volume.
Always thinking about the best way to serve you, we have invested heavily in top-of the line chairs, noise reduction headsets, noise reduction office panels, multiple monitors, adjustable height for desks, keyboards and monitors, in order to give our operators the most relaxing and noise-free atmosphere to completely focus on helping you when you call.
